Introducing Mary Bratton, LPC
Mary Bratton is a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor, a
nationally certified Master Addiction Counselor, and a North Carolina Certified Clinical
Addictions Specialist and Certified Clinical Supervisor. She received her master's degree
in Counseling from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut. She has additional
post-graduate credit in the areas of diagnosis, assessment, intervention, and treatment of
mental and emotional disorders from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio.
Mary has had ten years experience as a family therapist and family interventionist at a
major inpatient/outpatient chemical dependency treatment center in Toledo, Ohio. For nine
years prior to her recent move to North Carolina, Mary maintained a private practice at
Harbor Behavioral Healthcare in Toledo, Ohio. She specializes in treating adult survivors
of abuse and dysfunction, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, grief
issues, substance abuse. and eating disorders.
Mary is a frequent presenter at professional conferences and workshops. She is the author
of numerous journal articles on various aspects of family and survivor therapy. She is
also the author of A Guide to Family Intervention (Health Communications,
Inc., 1987). Her second book, From Surviving to Thriving: A Therapist's Guide to
Stage II Recovery for Survivors of Childhood Abuse (The Haworth Press, Inc.), was
released in 1999.
